Government Subsidies & Rebates
The Federal Government offers a range of subsidies to help families with the cost of childcare.
- The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) replaced what was previously the Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR) as of July 2nd 2018.
- For a child 13 or younger and not attending secondary school, unless an exemption applies
- Payments are based on your family’s annual income. To receive the maximum rate of CCS your combined family income must be less than $66,958 a year.
- CCS rates reduce on a sliding scale depending on income and the number of children in care.
- Centrelink will work out how many hours of subsidised child care you’re entitled to each fortnight using your level of activity.
- An additional subsidy to support parents with the transition to work from income support by engaging in work, study or training activities.
- To be eligible, families need to be receiving a support payment and have a Job Plan in effect.
- Transition to Work provides a subsidy of 95% of the actual fee charged up to 95% of the Child Care Subsidy hourly rate cap.
